Elections for the year 2008

The elections to select the executives of the year 2008 was held on the 30th of this month.Though the turnout was as low as 30,the enthusiasm showed by the candidates by giving long candidature speeches and by the audience by posing tough questions made the whole event interesting.There was an unanimous decision on the post of the chairman
Elections were held for the posts of Vice-Chairman,Secretary and the Treasurer.Accordingly the following people were elected as the executive committee

B. Varun - Chairman
Aditya Maira - Vice-Chairman
Dhruv Chhabra - Secretary
M Sai Krishna - Treasurer

Chairman speaks

We at IEEE-student branch are a group of people definitely looking beyond academics. The special interest group discussions and the student lectures initiated at the student branch has brought like minded people in the student community to work together. The Student branch at NIT Warangal is all set for an action. Truly a miracle and its much exciting to see that its happening. The tradition of the branch reflects the attitude of the student members. Luckily every year we had the hard working & energetic team that proactively took over responsibilities and retained the glory. In the years to come we will see a new environment to nuture the different skillset in each individual students, the dream happens but not without a toil !!.. We are posed with challenges at every step and a glory with every rise..

The IEEE student branch of NIT Warangal is one of the oldest branches of IEEE in the country. I would like to narrate a true incident below:
Being a hardcore fan of Open Source softwares and hardwares, I was very much interested in bringing opensource to the students of the college but it was very difficult for me to do so alone. One of my friends, Prasanna the present chairperson of the branch introduced me to the counsellor and together we have been able to spread the news of open source not only among the students of the college but also among the students outside the college(ie. the rest of Andhra Pradesh and some from outside as well). Similarly the student branch appreciates new ideas from other students as well. It is a place where you can air your views freely and work for your goals as well. To be a member all you need to be is a person who appreciates technology.
