Women Student Congress

The WIE Affinity Group of NIT Warangal organized the Women Student Congress on 25th and 26th October, 2008. The inaugural ceremony for the Affinity group was held at 10.30 a.m. on 25th October,2008. The ceremony was graced by the presence of DR. K. LAXMINARAYANA, Secretary, IEEE, Hyderabad Section who was accompanied by Mr. Nookala Srinivas, Student Activities Chair, IEEE Hyderabad Section.

This was soon followed by an informative and interactive talk by the section officers. As an effort to support the theme of WIE, our Faculty advisor, Mrs. Sailaja Kumari addressed the audience about the various benefits of being a member of IEEE WiE. But the icing on the cake came when the distinguished Prof. Vidyavathi, Former Vice Chancellor, Kakatiya University addressed the gathering. The audience were enthralled by her inspiring lecture and were surprised by her simplicity.
During the second session, Mrs. Laxmi Ishwari, Team Coordinator, C-DAC delivered a lecture on Information Security. Following this was another interactive session on the benefits of IEEE student membership by one of the branch officers. The first day ended with a positive note.

On the second day of the congress, the stage was set for yet another motivational lecture given by Dr. K Padma, Asst Prof, Centre for Management Studies, NITW. The theme of the talk was to bring out the leader in oneself. Dr. Padma left the audience with several tips on developing ones leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Next in line was the lecture on Medical Technology by Dr. L Radhika from Gandhi Medical Hospital, Warangal. Dr. Radhika enlightened the students with information about the developments of technology and the support of engineering in the field of medicine. She discussed several aspects of instrumentation in her lecture. The second session was filled with informal activities organized by the volunteers. A general quiz pertaining to achievements by women leaders was quickly followed by a lecture by Prof. Siva Sarma, Counselor, NITW on the Role of IEEE in Professional Development. This was quickly followed by a Sudoku Competition which tested the wits and speed of analysis of the participating audience.

The valedictory session was graced by the presence of Prof. M Sydullu, Director In charge, NITW. We received positive feedback and several constructive suggestions from the audience.
We are thankful to our supporters Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal; Balaji Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal; and Vaghdevi Engineering College, Warangal who played an instrumental role in the success of the congress.
